Yes, it's me again... with an update of course!  Today I went to 3 temples and a city tour of Bangkok.  I saw the Temple of the Golden Buddha (made from solid gold and weighing in at 5.5 tons).  Then it was on to the Temple of the Reclining Buddha which is the largest and oldest in Bangkok and finally the Marble Temple.  Did I mention that it is HOT and HUMID here!!!!  BUT the Margharita's and the Sangria is COOL COOL COOL!

Tomorrow I head out on a 9 hour tour (starting at the too early time of 6am) going to the Kanchanaburi Province to see the famous Bridge over the river Kwai and the beginning of the Death Railway.  The tour also takes us to the Allied War Grave Cemetaries and the JEATH War Museum.

On saturday I fly to Cambodia to see Angkor Watt!

Having a ball!  Can't actually believe that I'm here, doing this and more importantly doing it by myself!

Hi Everyone!  Well, it's about time I updated my blog again!  I am sitting in the hotel bar in Shanghai (free wireless) answering emails and having a nice glass of Merlot with my mother (most of which I have just spilled all over my Mac - clumsy Pixie)!  Aw well.  I think I got most of it dried up and there were no sparks, so hopefully it won't mess my laptop up.

China has been AMAZING!  Beijing, Xian and Shanghai!  The Great Wall, the Terracotta Warriors but to name a few and so many more wonders that are thousands of years old.  We have had a wonderful tour with brilliant tour guides.

Tomorrow we fly to Singapore.  Mum fly's back to Cape Town and I head on to  Bangkok.

Hope you're all well!?  Look after yourselves.  Next update from Thailand.

Hello Boys and Girls!

I thought I would provide a quick update to my blog since Singapore Changi Airport so politely provides free Wireless Internet!

Mum and I are sitting here after the 11 hour flight from Cape Town.  We have another hour to wait until we board the next 6 hour flight to Beijing.

Thankfully we have booked a private tour and our driver and guide will collect us at the airport and take us straight to our 5* hotel (boy oh boy am I looking forward to that)!  I watched 4 movies from Cape Town to Singapore and who knows how many more I will see before arriving in Beijing.  Unlike most tourists who would probably land in a country, drop off their bags at the hotel and then head off to explore.  I think we're going to drop off our bags and then drop from exhaustion!  Oh the thought of a bed and sleep brings tears to my eyes ;-)

We are both looking forward to this tour a lot so I'll keep you updated!

My time in Africa draws to a close

I finally get access to the internet and it's a mere few days until Mum and I fly off to China!  So here is a brief rundown of what has happened since I last updated my blog...

Cathy came to visit me and we took in the sites and sounds of the Cape and the Garden Route! These included:  Driving around Cape Point, having lunch at the Codfather (those who know it will appreciate what a treat it was)!  We went to Franschhoek, we visited a wine and cheese farm and ate the most delicious curry and that was just the weekend.

On the Monday we drove to the Garden Route Game Farm where we stayed for two days and enjoyed the wildlife, then on to Knysna and the Knysna Elephant Park where we got to feed the Ellies.

After Cathy left things quietened down a bit and I went to Home Affairs to renew my passport (which had just expired).  This is when I got the bad news that I would be stopped at Customs and would not be allowed to leave on my British Passport.  This resulted in many panicked trips to Home Affairs in Caledon to obtain a Temporary Passport which thank my lucky stars came through on Friday.

And here we are, Monday, 12 May and we leave at noon on Friday, 16 May!

I would have put some photo's in my blog but my Mac and I are having a difference of opinion!

I hope to update you all when I arrive in Thailand when I have a little more time as the China tour is going to be non-stop.  Till then...
